Local property Management Company seeking Property Accountant. This is a temp to hire opportunity for the right person!
The Property Accountant will work closely with the Property Management Controller to ensure fiscal functions are performed in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) which includes organizing external and internal audits.
Responsibilities will include distribution and preparation of monthly reports, journal entries, reconciling accounts, accruals and general ledger. Performing cash management functions; bank accounts, mortgage payments and all cash transactions. Reviews of all budgets, transactions, expenses, payroll costs and any other financial documents, with resolution to any discrepancies as discovered. Assist as an active liaison during all audits (internal/external) with proper review and research of any discrepancies, invoices, or transactions.
Must be a team player and work very closely with Property Managers and Controller to ensure proper financial procedures are followed for daily activities, monthly reporting and end of cycle reports. Additional administrative and clerical duties may be assigned regarding financial, accounting and reporting based on the needs of the Property.
Interested candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related field, and/or equivalent experience in accounting. Strong general ledger accounting and GAAP compliance knowledge is required. Demonstrated proficiency in Yardi Voyager (preferred) and advanced ability with Microsoft Excel. Accounting experience in real estate and/or property management industry experience preferred. In addition, experience with Project Based Section 8, HUD Tax Credit, and affordable housing preferred.
SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm
