NOW HIRING: MECHANIC
Location: Bridge City, TX
Pay: $23.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:15 AM – 4:45 PM
Type: Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire
Dress Code: Business Casual
Requirements: Valid driver’s license; Class B or A CDL with Passenger (P) & School Bus (S) endorsements; must meet DOT physical & drug/alcohol testing standards
Experience Required: Minimum 3 years mechanic experience
Position Summary
A local organization in Bridge City is seeking an experienced Mechanic to perform major mechanical repairs, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance on district vehicles. This role includes overseeing mechanics and mechanic assistants, ensuring safe operations, and maintaining accurate service records.
Key Responsibilities

Perform major and minor mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and inspections

Rebuild, replace, or repair engines, transmissions, suspensions, electrical systems, and cooling systems

Estimate time and materials needed for repairs

Assign work to mechanics and mechanic assistants and inspect completed work

Assist in training team members

Maintain accurate preventative maintenance and repair records

Operate buses and district vehicles as needed

Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant work environment

Follow all district safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
Requirements

Valid driver’s license with ability to obtain CDL (P & S endorsements)

Minimum 3 years of mechanic experience

Advanced knowledge of diesel and fuel engine maintenance

Ability to diagnose mechanical issues and perform repairs independently

Ability to read and interpret maintenance instructions, safety rules, and procedure manuals

Must pass DOT drug/alcohol testing and physical exam

Strong communication skills and ability to work as a team

Ability to operate service equipment, tools, and district vehicles
